7 Bridal Veil Falls

Telluride and Bridal Veil Falls

Telluride is a ski mecca, with a huge gondola cable system running from atop Mountain Village right down into town.

Just outside of Telluride in a box canyon, Bridal Veil Falls and its power house lie at the end of a tortuous switchback road, much of which I recorded on video to give the sense of getting up to the falls.

That Black Bear Pass Road gets almost impassable beyond the falls, but is a favorite of the 4WD enthusiasts, who drive it all the way to the Million-Dollar Highway on the East side of the range near Ironton

Route 145 runs southward from Telluride in much the same way that the Million-Dollar Highway runs from Ouray. This is all high in the mountains, and these are high-altitude lakes!   I took a drive up the Ophir Pass Road outside Silverton, to show you the mountain roads which connect the two highways.
