Latourell Falls

The first falls we encounter traveling eastward from Portland is Latourell Falls. It became my test case for flying around these falls.

The experience resulted in two drone crashes, from which I learned that the waterfalls create drafts so strong they blow the drones away and into the waiting tree branches. All of these falls are surrounded by very talls trees with long branches. I would actually be nudging the drones closer, only to see them going backward into the trees.

Fortunately, the incredibly lush shrubbery under the trees cushioned the drones’ fall, and I mostly broke a few propellers.

A highly competent drone store tech got me back in the air, and I rather timidly flew Latourell again.
