4 Prineville Reservoir And Dam

This dam blocks the Crooked River to create the Prineville Reservoir. The huge, winding reservoir has several entry points for fishermen and boaters, yet weekday usage is minimal. The Prineville Reservoir State Park is at another sector of the reservoir, so I placed it in a separate gallery

Prineville Reservoir State Park

In this sector of the huge reservoir, a sprawling park and camping facilities are nestled in the hills overlooking the lake. One interesting attraction is Dragon Rock, which immediately reminded me of the enormous dragon-like formation at The Cove Palisades State Park.
Again, weekdays are lightly attended, so the few visitors who are there midweek have the lake to themselves.

Ochoco Lake

This lake lies only a few miles East of Prineville, so combining it with a visit to Prineville Reservoir and the Bowman Dam is quite easy.
Since it is located along the highway it is more visited than the big reservoir, but you can see that, once again, midweek in June shows very few boats out on the lake.
