Gunlock Reservoir, Quail Creek and Leeds Cliffs & Arch
Utah Summer 2018

On a beautiful Summer day, I drove to St. George in southern Utah.

Looking for colorful and dramatic subjects, I visited Gunlock Reservoir, the Quail Creek Reservoir and a characteristic arch in the red sandstone cliffs near Leeds, a few miles North of St. George.

This corner of Utah is phenomenally rich in red sandstone formations (Think Zion National Park). Early Mormon settlers might well have seen this kind of scenery as a sign of divine approval, and put down their roots here.

As a side comment, you can see that it is much easier to fly to the Leeds Arch than to hike to it.
