1 Pathfinder Dam And Fremont Gorge
Wyoming Summer 2016Aerial Photography Using Drones
Pathfinder Reservoir lies 46 miles southwest of Casper, Wyoming. It captures the waters of the North Platte River, as do several other dams and reservoirs around the region.
The Pathfinder releases the river flow eastward into the winding Fremont Canyon. The reservoir, dam and canyon are a rich combination of colors and topography, especially if one can use the drone to get points of view one can’t get from shore.
In late Spring there is a massive release of snowmelt water around the side of the dam where you see the rock all whitened. Unfortunately, I learned of the release too late and it was over before I arrived. Certainly worth a return trip!
