At Sinks Canyon, the Popo Agie River suddenly disappears downward into a cavern. Scientists have timed how long it takes for particular water to reappear a mere quarter-mile away. It is a stunning two hours!
If we then drive westward on Sinks Canyon Road, it winds and has gigantic switchbacks to rise nearly 3,000 feet to Fry Lake. At 8,500 feet, the air is thin for drones and the mountaintop scenery is impressive.
