4 Pathfinder Reservoir & Dam Outside Casper

I had hoped when planning the trip here that the Spring thaw from a heavy Winter would cause the Pathfinder Dam to overflow. When it happens it is spectacular. Unfortunately for me, the Bureau of Reclamation foresaw the danger and redirected the river flows away from Pathfinder. Still, the views from around the lake and dam are worth the work to reach them.

Below the dam, the river has carved an unusually deep, winding gorge called Fremont Canyon. The canyon lies between Pathfinder Dam and the Alcove Reservoir.
