United States Practical Shooting Association
A gallery of competitors on selected stages from the 2018 USPSA National Championships at the Pro Gun facility in Boulder City, Nevada.
The purpose of my galleries is to show shooters and non-shooters alike what an enjoyable sport this is, while never having the drone interfere with the competitors or distract them from their task.
On the first day, I flew the drone above competitors in the three super squads who were engaging stages 10 through 14.
As always, I'd appreciate any of the competitors correcting me on names in these videos!! A lot of the shirts with sponsor logos look the same from space!
Secondly, you may notice that some videos seem to show trouble in aiming the camera on the drone. There sure was!!!
Every time the manufacturer updates the software, there are more banned places and warnings built in. In this case, a large warning message that I was near a 'recreational airport' popped up and blocked nearly the entire face of my iPad—on both drones! It would not allow itself to be cleared, so much of my flying was nearly blind. All I could see were the outer corners of the iPad's screen, so I looked for small things I could use as landmarks to guess where the shooter might be.
I added the final two pictures to show a modest entertainment offered at the club. Rent a tank and blow the bejesus out of a taxicab!
The winds dropped in the late morning of the first day of shooting, and I was able to catch up with a squad, which included some old friends from my competing days.
They happened to be shooting two stages, which include the long rifle shots at big steel rocker targets up on the hillside.
While we can't see the targets very well, the range officers have spotting scopes and call out, "Hit!" each time a shooter hits one of the targets.
As always, I'm furious with the Chinese drone-makers for not putting audio in the !#!$!%!^! camera! As always, identifying shooters by name from the drone is beyond me except for a few I firmly know from the rear, so to speak. So, any courageous volunteers who would point out my errors would be most welcome!
On Saturday, the super squads I was tracking engaged stages 1 through 5 on a beautiful day! Hot as heck and windy, but gorgeous clear sky!Anyone who would like to several years worth of competitions please email me...
By Sunday, the heat had built up and the wind let up. The drone flying was simpler than during the earlier windy days. The drones got material from some very good shooters on some challenging courses.
Then my webmaster will put them in a large set of galleries hidden on my web site http://www.divexprt.com
