Mexican Hat to Hite Crossing

This was a new exploration of areas near an old favorite, Monument Valley. I based in centrally-located Mexican Hat, then made forays northward toward Hite Crossing and eastward over the colossal Comb Ridge toward Bluff.

Some striking generalities: This is an area of ancient seabed which has become sandstone. Through the ages, violent tectonic activity, volcanoes and enormous flood erosion have shaped the land with artist’s hands.
